TENAC AGAIN SAYS “NO!” TO PEPCO/EXELON MERGER

Rip-Off Utility Plan is a Menace to the District

Wouldn’t you know it, just when we thought the Pepco-Exelon “rip off” merger was put to rest, it now has a second life by going for approval by Mayor Bowser and getting another “bite of the apple.” Sometimes “no” should mean ‘no.” TENAC strongly opposed the merger and played a key role in getting it defeated.  The Pepco/Exelon merger bodes ill for tenants and everyone else in this city who care anything about affordable housing.  This merger is nothing but a giveaway to the utilities industry and will raise the costs for electricity, gas, and other utilities for tenant rate payers, creating financial hardship and escalating the costs of living in this city, the most expensive in the nation.  We ask that you voice your opposition. Here is the link to the letter we ask all to send to the Mayor and Council. Just click and send it, at: http://www.powerdc.org/thank-you.html

TENAC will participate in a rally in opposition to the renewed push for this merger, at Freedom Plaza (opposite the District Building at 13th and Penn. Ave., NW) at 12 noon, this Thursday, September 17th. Rob Robinson, D.C. Consumer Utility Board, deserves our heartfelt thanks and support for his work leading this effort. Tenant participation on that date will be key to this important effort.  Please make every effort to attend, and urge your neighbors to do likewise.  Best wishes.
