We are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Jeanne Williams.   She served for many years both as a member of the TENAC Board of Directors and as TENAC Communications Director.  She was a tireless advocate for tenants, the homeless and others in need.  She handled the TENAC Hotline and e-mail until sidelined by serious illness - - taking thousands of calls and offering advice and referrals to help tenants with scores of problems, including those facing eviction.  Through her frequent contacts with tenants, fellow advocates at TENAC, the Office of Tenant Advocate (OTA), and scores of tenants associations across the city, she made fast friends and advocates of others by her loyalty, sense of humor and compassion.   Whether threatened with eviction or lack of repairs, she offered effective help to countless tenants in trouble.  She was deeply concerned about tenant welfare and worked tirelessly assisting tenants in maintaining the roof over their heads, getting repairs, security deposits back, and securing affordable housing.   She was a great friend to many in our community and will be sorely missed.    May she rest in peace.    TENAC will hold a memorial event in her honor (to be announced).  Click below for eulogy
